Dr. Amy L. Slavensky, Superintendent of Schools
Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, Colleagues & Community Partners,
Recently I shared a message of gratitude connected to the holiday season. This is a message that is important every day and throughout the year. In this spirit, I am sharing the following message once again.
Each of you plays a vital role in the work of educating and supporting our students. I’m thankful for our classified and confidential staff members who daily go above and beyond to make sure every detail in support of students is given the attention it needs. I’m thankful for our dedicated counselors, nurses, therapists, and psychologists who daily help our students overcome personal challenges so they can better focus on learning. I’m thankful for our strong leaders who persevere through challenging times with passion and dedication to the teams and communities they lead. I’m thankful for our teachers who daily plan, teach, monitor progress, intervene, and support our students to ensure their success – socially, emotionally, behaviorally, and academically. I’m thankful for our parents and guardians who are their children’s first teacher, who support the well-being and education of their children around the clock! And I am thankful for the members of our Board of Trustees who provide guidance and governance support every step of the way for the sake of all students.
In the words of William Arthur Ward, “Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.” I encourage each of us to find those transformative moments of gratitude and turn them into extraordinary blessings!
During the winter and spring months, we will be fully launching our 2017-2020 Strategic Plan and seeking your input for the annual revision of our Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). To assist us with both efforts, please:
