Get Ready for the 2026 Annual Tomato Tasting Contest!

Master Gardeners of Amador County, in partnership with Amador Farmers Markets, are thrilled to announce the updated categories for this year’s Annual Tomato Tasting Contest at the Sutter Creek Farmers Market! Whether you’re a longtime grower or a first-time participant, there’s a place for your prized tomatoes. 

Here’s what you can look forward to at the 2026 event:
Best Tasting Tomato (Ages 13 and over)

• Red Tomato
• Non-Red Tomato
• Cherry Tomato
• Sungold Tomato (new category and a special highlight!)

Heaviest Tomato (all ages) – Bring your biggest tomato to compete for the title of the heaviest by weight!

Best Mutant or Odd-Shaped Tomato ("Quirky Tomato") – Let’s celebrate those wonderfully weird tomatoes that make us smile. Open to all ages! This category will be judged by Market Customers.

Youth Category (Ages 12 and under)

• Best Tasting Red Tomato
• Best Tasting Non-Red Tomato
• Best Tasting Cherry Tomato

Kids, get ready to show off your skills!
