Blue Shield EPO Plan

Starting in the 2027 Plan Year, CalPERS is introducing the Blue Shield EPO plan to members in Amador County. This expansion is designed to address the current lack of HMO or EPO options in the area. Members in Amador can look forward to having this new health plan choice available during open enrollment, beginning in September 2026, with an effective date of January 1, 2027.

2027 Open Enrollment:

CalPERS Health Insurance Open Enrollment for the 2027 Plan Year is now open, from September 14 to October 8, 2026. This will be your next opportunity to enroll in or make changes to your health benefits. We are utilizing the American Fidelity Enrollment Platform (AF Enroll) for this process, ensuring a streamlined and familiar experience for all employees. 

Option 1: Self-Enroll Online (AFenroll)

You can log in at any time to complete your enrollment independently for all health and welfare benefits. This includes District Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage, as well as American Fidelity supplemental plans such as Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), Dependent Care, Cancer Insurance, Accident Insurance, and Disability, etc.

Option 2: Schedule a Meeting with an American Fidelity Representative
